Here are some photos taken from the Friends of 40th Street and Phones4Life giveaway of free emergency-only cell phones to seniors and the disabled. The Friends collected over 600 phones from University City and West Philadelphia stakeholders, and received 150 programmed phones in return from Phones4Life, which were distributed to residents of West Powelton and University Square Apartments. The idea for the cell phone drive originated from a discussion at a Friends meeting one year before, so the Friends should be very proud for such an accomplishment.
