One summer Sunday afternoon my friends and I decided to travel to New York City. We stumbled across the Strand, a well known bookstore in the city, and went to take a look around. After browsing the shelves for a while, I spotted Drew Barrymore's Find It in Everything, a collection of photographs in which hearts appear randomly from a heart shaped hole in someone's shirt to a straw wrapper that just happened to be folded into a shape of a heart on the sidewalk. After taking this book home with me, I sat down and analyzed each photograph. I was in awe of that if a person just stops for a minute and looks around, she will notice things that she would have missed if she had just glanced around. For example, when I came across the photograph with a bread clip with a cutout in shape of a heart, I realized that I had never looked at the shape of the bread clips I have used in the past long enough to know if the one I was using had come with a heart cutout. After flipping through this photography book I came away with the idea that in any situation, no matter how terrible, a person will always be able to find the beauty and the good every time if she just takes a bit of time to live in the moment and truely be aware of her surroundings. Furthermore, finding the positive aspects in life is important to a person's happiness. Therefore, I chose a picture of a sky with a heart shaped cloud. If a person never looks up she would have missed the reminder that beauty surrounds us.
