Are the Networks Working?

Are the Networks Working?

I chose to connect Recover Ecological Intelligence to Your Own Personal Ecosystem. The connection I derived was that words are metaphors that carry valuable meaning from where it first originated and how it continues to progress while still holding certain meaning, but adopting new ones along the way. In a similar way the human body according to Your Own Personal Ecosystem develops with a certain set of microbes, but as it continues its journey in the outside world adopts new microbes which further shape or shift moods, symptoms from diseases and capabilities.  The article also mentions how, “Each of us is home to thousands of microbes and no two people have quite the same mix.” This depicts more on a biological level how we are each different, but the network of relationships seems to begin from inside and gradually get bigger. But as these networks begin to expand they all begin to connect, as in they never really expand away from each other… if that makes sense,… yet the idea of how traditional our thinking can be makes me question if we are analyzing the relationship between the environment and words in the correct manner. Is there something in the way of comparing these two subjects that is too traditional that restricts us from seeing something more? Is the idea of this network connecting too vague or too broad? And on a different note, in terms of meaning and the idea of words progressing, can words be criminalized as well like some may criminalize germs entering the body? At what point is a word a bad word? ( Posting was late because I thought it was this week that did not have the short posting and essay. I'm sorry.)
