Sherry, I really like all of your quote selections. I can see the parallels; however, I’m think that you could make the connections more clear. I think we’re getting back in our groups tomorrow, so hopefully we can help you a bit more because I think that you have some really great ideas forming.
Also, I like that you bring up the meaning of Phoenix’s name. Depending on where you decided to go with your essay, maybe you could extend on that. I think that it really symbolizes Yumi’s life and desires in many ways.
“The shape may be different but the form of root never changes.” I think that this is a great idea as well. It goes along well with the quote too.
