I saw this article today that showed a "what if" tweet by education secretary Arne Duncan and the first response said what if students spent 90 minutes in the woods instead of 90 minutes reading. It reminded me of our discussion about being immersed in the environment verse being chained off. But our discussion was more about higher education. But being home I noticed the middle schools and elementary schools are just big brick blocks on the road and there is almost no opportunity to be with the environment except for field trips. It'd be interesting to see if there are primary schools in arboretums and what that affect is. The rest of the responses are pretty interesting too and bring up a lot of valued concerns. Just figured I would share!http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2015/01/01/arne-duncan-asks-what-if-heres-the-response/?tid=sm_fb
Hope you have a wonderful new year!
