This is a really cool (and evolving) project started by 3 Haverford students last year, and is a space where women of african descent are being represented, and not in the context of a negative or controversial event.
"Bodies Talk B(l)ack is a photography project and positive image campaign conceived to affirm and celebrate women of African descent (WOAD). Historically, representations of the Black female form have been limited to being angry, hypersexual, exotic, or maternal. Bodies Talk B(l)ack is a project that aims to push against these stereotypes and invite WOAD to define their own image through the interpretation of their heritage. It is a repairative way of looking at WOAD from a place of respect, rather than one of objectification."
