What really interested me were the differences between the small town in which the author (Anne?) grew up in and Bryn Mawr College. They are two totally different communities and atmospheres. Reading this has me thinking about the contact zones and what the author could have experienced being a part of both of these worlds. She is a woman that lives in Western Virginia where I assume that they are very prideful of their Southern history, and she is a teacher at an all women's college that I am assuming is more diversed. This also has me thinking about the term slipping and what it means. The meaning of the term "slipping" still confuses me, I am not sure what it means exactly.
