Disability culture in dance

I watched a video about Alice Sheppard, a disabled dancer who speaks about disability culture in dance and the beauty of this art form. One thing she says in the video that stood out to me was about the connections brought about through dance not only between two disabled people but between the non-disabled and the disabled. She says in this interview, "the beauty of my performance lay in the physical but then also tangible connection between the movement space of the stage and the movement space of the audience." She comments on the presence of dance in so many places in disability culture whether that is through the kocking of a cane or the rolling wheels of a wheelchair. She even comments on the presence of dance in ASL. I just found this whole video intersting because she is showing how something like disability that is often not seen in a positive light, can be turned into something so beautiful.
