Deaf Culture in Media

This picture and video are about Dougie! Dougie is a deaf young dog in the children's show Bluey. It was released in June of 2022 in the third season of the show. I really like this show and the various representation it provides, especially this one. Despite a deaf character being one of the main focuses of the episode, he is not focused on because he is deaf, but because he wants to play with the turtle plush ("turtleboy") just as much as Bingo (one of the show's main characters). I assume in this episode they are using Australian Sign Language, also called Auslan. In the image, Dougie is making the sign for turtle, and in the video is a translation of what he and his mother are signing in most of the episode.
