HOT TOPICS
TriCo: Segregation or Support
The Summer Tri-College Program is a week-long orientation sponsored by Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges for their first-year students of color. Some people feel that this program is a necessary step to assist first year students of color to thrive at the three colleges, while others hold that it divides students and promotes self-segregation. Please come to the MCC to share your ideas and listen to others who may challenge your assumptions. Dessert will be served!

To suggest future Hot Topics, please go to the diversity forum.

HOT TOPICS
Political Discourse, Diversity and Respect
How do we talk about political differences in a way that is both passionate and respectful?
Both before and after the upcoming election, it will be important for people to engage in vigorous, honest dialogue. Too often, however, political discourse does not occur because people don't want to be challenged or yelled at. Still--and especially given the contentious nature of this election--many people have strong feelings and emotions about the candidates and the issues.
Join us at the Multicultural Center as we examine how we discuss politics and our views with each other. Pizza and soda will be served! The event will run till 1:15; please come for all or part of the discussion.

To suggest future Hot Topics, please go to the diversity forum.

Last year there was a great deal of controversy around certain costumes at the Rhoads Halloween party. Come find out why people were offended. Introducing the first CMLS film and discussion: Ethnic Notions.
Ethnic Notions is Marlon Riggs' Emmy-winning documentary that takes viewers on a disturbing voyage through American history, tracing for the first time the deep-rooted stereotypes which have fueled anti-black prejudice. Through these images we can begin to understand the evolution of racial consciousness in America.
