- National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
The nation's leading grassroots, self-help and family advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with severe mental illness. Includes a search engine and links to sites about policy and mental health disorders.
- National Health Information Center
A health information referral service that puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. Site includes a health information resource database of 1,100 organizations and government offices that provide health information upon request, including contact information, short abstracts, and information about publications & services organizations provide.
- NYS Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled
The Commission provides programmatic and fiscal accountability for delivering services of high quality by the vast network of public and private agencies comprising the mental health system. Includes links to best practices, hot topics, and publications by this commission on issues such as hospitals and institutions, mental retardation/developmental disabilites and children's issues.
- World Federation for Mental Health
An international nonprofit advocacy organization to advance, among all people and nations, the prevention of mental and emotional disorders, the proper treatment and care of people with such disorders and the promotion of mental health. Site includes links to other professional organizations, conference updates, newsletter and current mental health events.
- American Psychiatric Press
On-line bookstore of publications available for purchase on a variety of mental health disorders and issues related to mental health.
- National Research Council
NRC is the principal operating agency of both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering and provides information on science, engineering and medicine to the nation. Site includes information on the National Academies of Science & Engineering , the Institute of Medicine, publications, and a search engine of The National Academies and National Academy Press.
- American Public Human Services Association
The mission of APHSA is to develop, promote, and implement public human service policies that improve the health and well-being of families, children, and adults. Site includes recent news, publications, press releases, policy resolutions & issue briefs regarding current legislation and perspectives on key issues, a search engine.
- Alliance for Justice
The Alliance for Justice is a national association of environmental, civil rights, mental health, women's, children's and consumer advocacy organizations. The Alliance works to advance the cause of justice for all Americans, strengthen the public interest community's ability to influence public policy, and foster the next generation of advocates. Site inlcudes information on various current issues, including mental health.
- National Mental Health Association
The country's oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. NMHA works to improve the mental health of all Americans through advocacy, education, research and service. - The Center for the Advancement of Health
A nonprofit organization that promotes the science that explores the relationship between mental and physical states underlying health and illness. Site includes a newsroom, publications, speaking out, research funding directory and links to related sites.
- Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic Library
One of the world's most comprehensive resources in psychiatry and the behavioral sciences. Site includes Online access to this collection through the University of Pittsburgh online catalog.
- Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health
A national parent-run organization focused on the needs of children and youth with emotional, behavioral or mental disorders and their families. Site includes information on policy and research, training and technical assistance, information for families, an information clearinghouse, and links to other web sites.
- Parents Involved Network of Pennsylvania
The local Pennsylvania affiliate for the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health. This organization assists parents or caregivers of children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders.
- SAMSHA: National Mental Health Information Center
A site providing extensive links to resources on research on all aspects of mental health.
Institutes
- Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy of New Jersey
The Institute works for the advancement of psychoanalysis and the promotion of the highest attainable level of competence among mental health professionals who practice psychoanalysis and psychoanalytically informed psychotherapy. Site includes information on admission, programs, coursework, continuing education and links to psychology resources.
- New England Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies
Courses at the Institute are designed for professionals who want to learn about psychoanalytic approaches and how they can be used in effective treatment, education and personal growth. Site contains course offerings, policies, procedures, and fee structure of the Institute.
- Alfred Adler Institute
A nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, developing and promoting the theory and techniques of Adlerian psychology, and educating the helping professions and the public to the benefits of this thoeretical application. Includes information on programs and training.

- Anxiety Disorder Association of America
ADAA promotes the prevention and cure of anxiety disorders and works to improve the lives of all people who suffer from them. Site inlcudes facts about anxiety disorders, professional resources, and information for people who suffer from anxiety disorders.
- International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies
This organization provides a forum for professionals to share research, clinical strategies, policy issues and concerns about stress. Site includes links to publications, resources, affiliated organizations and conference updates.
- International Stress Management Association
A UK charity with a multi-disciplinary professional membership that promotes sound knowledge, best practices and professional standards in the prevention and reduction of human stress. Site includes links to articles, books & publications, conference updates and other stress sites.
- National Anxiety Foundation
Informational site about the symptoms and treatment of anxiety disorders. Includes links to an international list of anxiety disorder professionals and other mental health sites.

- Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral Center
The ADEAR Center is a service of the National Institute on Aging (NIA). Here you will find information about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
- Mental Health and Aging of the Mental Health Association of SE PA
Based in Philadelphia, the organization provides legislative alerts, engages in related advocacy, provides tips on navigating the mental health system, and provides links to related aging and mental health resources.
- Alzheimer's Association
A national voluntary health organization committed to finding a cure for Alzheimer's and providing education and support for people diagnosed with the condition, their families and caregivers. This site addresses issues of research and advocacy and includes a search engine.
- American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry
Site provides consumer information, advocacy and public policy resources, and access to bulletins and journals on late life mental disorders.
Schizophrenia
- The Stanley Foundation
a nonprofit organization that supports research on the causes and treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), both through work carried out in their own laboratories and through support of researchers worldwide who are working on these diseases.
- Schizophrenia Awareness Group
Seeks to improve the lives of individuals suffering from schizophrenia by providing a digital library as a focal point for education, research, and discussions.
- Association for the Psychotherapy of Schizophrenia
Educates and provides training to professionals and students to help them develop an understanding of the logic, language and meaning of schizophrenia, and to develop treatments that do more than just provide a chemical masking of symptoms.
- Schizophrenia Society of Canada
A Canadian association developed to alleviate the suffering caused by schizophrenia. Site includes reports and publications on schizophrenia, as well as links to Canadian provinces.
- National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression
The largest donor-supported organization in the world devoted exclusively to supporting scientific research on brain disorders. Founded by Ralph Nader this consumer advocacy organization's Web site has news about consumer issues and other consumer topics such drugs, health care,and tobacco.
- American Council on Science and Health
ACSH is a consumer education consortium concerned with issues related to food, nutrition, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, lifestyle, the environment and health.

- The National Autistic Society
To encourage a better understanding of autism and to pioneer specialist services for people with autism and those who care for them. Includes information on autism and asperger syndrome, news, publications and resources, research, and links.
- National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers
Dedicated to promoting, assisting and enhancing the delivery of ethical, effective, research-based treatment for alcoholism and other drug addictions.
- American Sleep Disorders Association
An organization of professionals working with sleep disorders. Includes links to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sleep disorders centers & labs, position papers, legislative action center, Sleep Medicine Education & Research Foundation, associated professional sleep societies, Journal SLEEP, American Board of Sleep Medicine, and the Sleep Research Society.
- National Attention Deficit Disorder Association

- Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association

- Autism Society of America
