Shoshana's Intrduction

My name is shoshana. I am a Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher in Perelman Jewish Day School.

I was born in Israel and grew up there.I served in Israel Army.when I moved to USA my highest goal was to pass my Jewish heritage  and the love and beauty of Israel to my students so in the future they will want to pass on their knowledge to others and visit Israel. I am teaching 4/5 grade. my reason i came to this workshop is to learn from other teachers by sharing ideas and problems that arise in the classroom. my goal this year is to learn more about kids with ADHD,as this will help me to better teach and understand them. I want to get more ideas on how to help the student to engage in class, concentrate, and become involved in all activities.

Dyslexia

 Dyslexia

The word dyslexia comes from the Greek root dys, which means difficulty, and lexis, which means word. Oswald Berkhan first identified dyslexia in 1881. Six years later, Rudolf Berlin coined the term “dyslexia” in Stuttgart, Germany.

Dyslexia is a learning disability that results from differences in how the brain processes written and spoken language. Dyslexic individuals experience difficulty reading, spelling, among other things. Although there is no cure for dyslexia, it can be overcome with proper educational support. How can we identify children with dyslexia and support them in the classroom?

Introduction to Shoshana Golan

My name is Shoshana Golan and I am teaching at Perelman Jewish Day School.  I came from Israel with a mission to teach Hebrew and Judaic studies to pass the love of the culture and bring life to Israel.  My goal is to have kids want to visit Israel and maybe one day live there.   I want the students to understand how important Israel is.  This summer I am taking a class called Brain and Behavior Institute at Bryn Mawr College because I want to get more ideas about how to understand every student with his or her special needs.  I also want to increase students' motivation to learn and succeed.
