Isn't life just a series of images that change as they repeat themselves?

Alices in Wonderlands

Anne’s mention in class of how the “world underground” is illustrated in the book versus in the various film adaptations of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass caught my attention.  I read Alice, as many others have before me, as a parody of the stanch Victorian system of education that existed at the time in which Carroll wrote.  What goes on in the imagination of Alice in the book is the antithesis of what an English schoolteacher of the time would want his or her pupils

It is not uncommon to wish for anonymity.  Whether that╒s because of personal problems or insecurity or something else, the feeling is fairly universal.  Today╒s technology is moving toward erasing that feeling, however.  Anonymity on the Internet has opened a world of possibilities to let things go for people who would not normally do so.

Genre as a Guideline

When reading Wai Chee Dimock's article "Introduction: Genres as Fields of Knowledge," I found myself agreeing with the author's theorization that the concept of genre in literature is meant to be seen as a general guideline to categorize things rather than a way to, as Dimock said, "put things into a pigeonhole."  Branching off that same idea, Dimock also expressed the idea that genre should not limit a work of literature.  Just because it's categorized as epic or lyric doesn't mean that the work has to entirely fit a certain format, and there is room for change in all genres that inevitably comes with time and the gathering of new knowledge.
