Arabian Nights

Molly's picture

In Arabian Nights, I read "Prologue," "The Story of the Merchant and the Genius," and "The Story of the First Old Man and of the Hind," and I read them on ELF.

I can't say I loved the stories or anything, but I did think they were clever.  One of my favorite parts of the stories was the smooth transition between each one.  I've never seen that done in a collection of short stories before, and I thought it was really well done.  The reason I didn't like the stories that much, I think, is because I don't really like stories that are fables or fable-esque.  I think there are only so many ways you can express the same moral in a story, and it's sort of been done to death.  I wasn't that into the stories themselves, but I did appreciate the style of writing.
