Indeed it is! This article and the technology it describes raises super interesting questions about autonomy, quality of life, and also about what it means to communicate. There's lots of controversy in disability world about practices like "facilitated communication," used by non-speaking people with autism. Measuring blood flow in the brain as a way of interpreting responses is likely to spawn controversy too, and to raise lots of complicated ethical questions. Let's discuss when we have a chance--
