ANIMALS ARE FRIENDS

DO ANIMALS HAVE FEELINGS ?

Part of this web-site is to provide links to you to try to answer the question, "Do animals have feelings?". The artwork comes from "Generalcomics.com". This is a wonderful source for free and funny graphics. The animated graphics comes from AnimationLibrary.

A good starting place for me was Sentient Beings. That is where I found the quote from Darwin. The articleAnimal Emotions is a scientific approach to this issue. If you just want to research about primates read Do Animals Think? . A site that is not very scientific, but is inspirational is Point of Focus. If you feel like reading a thesis concerning how we need to develope more information about animals' feelings to inprove their welfare, then click on Do they suffer?.

  

TAKING CARE OF ANIMALS

A second function of this web-site is to help children learn how to care for the animals they have as pets. A site that uses a coloring book (that you can print) to teach children to be responsible pet-owners is AVMA Kids'Corner. This is a good place for parents also with questions about pets. Another site for kids (some kids might need parents' help with the reading) is Animaland . There also some short videos cartoons here. A very helpful site for kids (and parents) is KIDSAID. Heres's a site, Washingtonpost that allows you to take an interactive quiz that finds the best pet for you, and how to care for it. Even the U.S. government have a site, All About Animals that children can use.

3. Talk to your pet.
4. Clean up after your pet.
5. Treat your pet as your best friend.
6. Make sure your pet has fresh water every day.
7. Don't let anyone harm your pet in any way.
8. Read about your pet to gain more knowledge.
9. Take your pet to the veterinarian at least once a year.
