I'm frustrated that in a class about The Brain and Mental Health we are talking about the nature of reality and rewording the scientific method. This is perhaps because this is the second time around that I've been through this lecture, but for me it feels like we are discussing the obvious, something that we all understand but that is not necesarrily helpful for furthering our understanding of the brain or mental health. So reality is actually only our perception, but does that help us navigate our percieved reality? And in terms of the scientific method, I would be surprised if anyone truly thought that conclusions are facts or TRUTHS, I think people understand that these are oberservations and some scientists best attempt to interpret them. Are we really getting at something or is this just semantics? For me these are things that you should be aware of, but they shouldn't be at the forefront of your thought. If we are always thinking there is no reality or Truths outside our perception, there is little motivation to move forward.
