personal v. private

These readings made me think about audience. The whole wanting to feel hailed and recruited is still on my mind. Maybe people just want to feel acknowledged in the various roles they take on. Is the reason someone would want to write a journal online the same reason someone wants an academic paper published in a paper journal or the same as why we want our relationships validated socially/publically or the same as why we want people to recoginize our gender or other category on sight or perhaps on (any type of) contact? For this course it is required that we post online, for anyone with access to an internet connection to see. Is this useful? Why is this a requirement? Why not have a closed forum just for the class? Is it more feminist for everyone to be able to know everyone else's ideas? Would the erasure of elitism mean the erasure of all private life? The erasure of all exclusive groups?
