In class today, we did a thought experiment about the relationship between thought and action. The observations from our experiment led us to conclude that thinking about an action and performing an action are different. Thoughts can be completely dissociated from inputs and outputs in the nervous system. I am curious about to reconcile our conclusions with the concept of motor imagery and athletic performance.
