cross-visitation

I am in an elementary school music class at a private school in Bryn Mawr. I'm just starting now so one might want to wait until the first week of March before visiting to give me and the teacher a little time to settle in. It is a new teacher and a general music class, grades 3-5. The school runs on a 7-day rotation schedule so it varies a little, but in general it will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-2:50-ish.

I also teach a music-reading/intro music theory course at Haverford for new students to chorale and anyone would be welcome to visit that once it starts. So far I have just been grading all of the new students' tests to see who will need to be in the course; the course itself might not begin until after break.

My placement is at a community arts center in Wayne. It's best to get there by car. 

Thursdays, 9:00-11:15: This class is for two yr olds and a parent/guardian. There are three pairs enrolled in the class, one of them comes with her grandmother, the other two with moms. The instructor generally works with one color theme each day.

Fridays, 9:00-11:45: This class is for 4-6 yr olds. There are 9 children enrolled in the class. They work with many different materials, with the goal of modeling their artwork after modern artists.

I have a placement at an afterschool writing & tutoring center in NE Philly. It takes about 40 min to get there, and I think they would be very flexible about visiting volunteers. I haven't gone yet, but I'll be going on Tuesdays from 3:00-5:30 starting this week. I may also be working on a workshop for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. 

My placement is at a media company that deals with public school news. I go on Tuesdays from 10:30am-3:30. I drive, and I was told that public transportation there is close to impossible, so you would have to come with me unless you have a car. 

My placement is at a center city independent school in a second grade classroom. I go on Fridays from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM. 

I'm at a  family center in Norristown - 2:30-6:00pm round-trip, Mondays and Wednesdays, or 1:30-6:00 if you wanna get some authentic Mexican food for lunch!  Many students from nearby elementary school in Norristown come to this family center after school.   Also, I'm working one-on-one with 3 students, 2 of which speak little to no English, so some level of Spanish profiency would probably be helpful.  (It also might be interesting to have someone with no prior Spanish experience though...)

My placement is at a very progressive magnet school in center city Philadelphia. I am with 10th grade English and 11th grade American History. The classes are project-based and all students use laptops throughout the day to work on projects and facilitate learning. I am there on Tuesdays from around 10:15am-3:15pm.

My placement is at two Elementary Schools about 15 minutes from Haverford (a little closer to Bryn Mawr) that are in the same district as one another and with the same teacher. I am in two ELL classrooms and have 1st through 5th graders. We work on mostly reading, writing and speaking skills.
